Guest Speaker for Pastor’s 5th Anniversary
Sunday, March 11 will mark five years since Dr. Noel Schoonmaker became our pastor. We are delighted to welcome a special guest preacher for the 10:30 a.m. worship service that day.
Rev. Amos Disasa was born in Oromia, in western Ethiopia. A graduate of Presbyterian College (B.A.) and Wake Forest University (M.Div.), he currently serves as Co-Pastor of Downtown Church in Columbia, SC, a church that he helped launch in 2011. A visionary leader, he also helped to start The Foot Care Ministry and Light the Way, both of which minister to Columbia’s homeless population.
Rev. Disasa is a trustee of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a recipient of the Collegeville Institute Fellowship. He was keynote speaker at the Pace-Warren Lecture Series in 2016, and has been a featured preacher for Montreat Conference Center, NEXT Church Conference, and Day1. His writing has been published in multiple print and online periodicals, and he was a contributing author to the Feasting on the Gospels commentary set.
Amos and his wife Sarah have two children, Abraham (8) and Shepherd (6). Amos and Sarah have been friends with Dr. Schoonmaker for over 20 years. According to Dr. Schoonmaker, “Amos Disasa is a wizard of the 21st century pulpit.” Be sure to mark your calendar for March 11 to come hear him preach!
